Wow. It's been awhile since my last post...sorry about that! The end of the school year turned out to be a whole lot busier than I thought...but CHOCK FULL of surprises! What do I mean? Oh, just wait. You'll see. :)
Let me first start off by saying how much I LOVED my first year officially in the classroom! I had a wonderful, unique, talented, sweet, and spunky group that I will truly miss dearly. My biggest thing was learning how to say "goodbye" to twenty-five kids that I spent the majority of my time with and had truly come to love...I mean, really, how DO you do that? Hopefully I'll get the hang of it as I become more "seasoned" in this profession. :)
One thing I really enjoyed (and I think the kiddos did, too) was our end of the year class awards ceremony. I wanted to do something special for each of them, aside from the school-wide awards ceremony held earlier in the week. But what? I've come to find in my short time as a teacher that anytime I have that kind of question, Pinterest always seems to come to the rescue. ;) After just a few minutes, I found exactly what I was looking for... (drum roll, please)
Candy Bar Awards!
Based off of ideas found here, I made twenty-five scrumptious awards for each of my sweet kiddos. "Almond Joy" for being a "joy" to be around, "Junior Mints" for being an excellent role model for "juniors" to look up to...all bases covered. The best part was that during the ceremony, the kids were automatically guessing who would get what award, and they were spot on 99% of the time. :) Just goes to show that we were a true family in Miss Capelli's class! Makes my heart smile.
We finished our awards ceremony, signed yearbooks outside on the playground with the rest of our grade level, packed up the classroom, shed some tears, and lined up for dismissal for the very last time. Before I knew it, my first class was on summer vacation, and I had finished my first year of teaching!
Phew.
...to be continued...
